President Kersti Kaljulaid met yesterday in Kadriorg with Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, who was visiting Estonia.
The overall security situation, the contribution of the United Kingdom to the allied battle group deployed in Estonia and cooperation in missions abroad were discussed at the meeting. General developments in Estonia over the last 25 years, the development of technology and the digital state, and the possibility of using Estonia’s experiences in providing development assistance were also discussed.
“The United Kingdom and Estonia have been involved in close military cooperation since the Estonian War of Independence. Joint participation in difficult foreign missions has also laid a very good foundation for cooperation in the allied battle group deployed in Estonia, which has definitely been an invaluable lesson in defending our region for NATO in general,” stated President Kaljulaid.
The Princess Royal is the only daughter and second child of The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh. The Princess Royal supports The Queen in her role as Head of State by representing Her Majesty at events in the UK and abroad, as well as attending state and ceremonial occasions alongside other members of the Royal Family. Her Royal Highness is involved with over 300 charities, organisations and military regiments in the UK and overseas, and she devotes a large part of her working life to official engagements and visits.
