Today and tomorrow, President of the Riigikogu (Parliament of Estonia) Eiki Nestor is in Vilnius at the invitation of Speaker of the Seimas of Lithuania Viktoras Pranckietis to attend the solemn sitting of the Seimas dedicated to the Day of Re-establishment of Lithuania’s Independence, and to forward the good wishes of the people of Estonia to the people of Lithuania.
Nestor will congratulate the people of Lithuania on the Day of Re-establishment of Lithuania’s Independence. “We are good cooperation partners with Lithuania, and we have been following a common path for a long time, from the restoration of independence to joint activities in the European Union, NATO and other international organisations,” Nestor said.
Lithuania celebrates the Day of Re-establishment of Lithuania’s Independence on 11 March. Concerts, exhibitions and other events take place all over the country. The speakers and representatives of the parliaments of several countries and other high-level visitors, like Speaker of the Saeima of Latvia Ināra Mūrniece, Marshal of the Sejm of Poland Marek Kuchciński, Deputy Speaker of the Althingi (Parliament) of Iceland Guðjón S. Brjánsson and Chair of the Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Parliament of Ireland Brendan Smith, will attend the events.
