At today’s sitting, the Riigikogu elected Enn Eesmaa and Hanno Pevkur the Vice-Presidents of the Riigikogu. The President of the Riigikogu is Eiki Nestor. The extraordinary election was held in connection with Taavi Rõivas’s resignation from the position of Vice-President of the Riigikogu. Pursuant to the Riigikogu Rules of Procedure and Internal Rules Act, the two Vice-Presidents were elected at the same time.
The Chairman of the Estonian Centre Party Faction Kersti Sarapuu nominated Enn Eesmaa as a candidate for a Vice-President again.
The Chairman of the Estonian Free Party Faction Artur Talvik nominated Krista Aru as a candidate, and the Deputy Chairman of the Estonian Reform Party Faction Maris Lauri nominated Hanno Pevkur as a candidate for a Vice-President.
At the secret ballot, Eesmaa received 52 votes and was elected the First Vice-President, and Pevkur received 33 votes and was elected the Second Vice-President. Aru received 9 votes. 95 members of the Riigikogu took part in the voting. There was one invalid ballot paper.
