President Kersti Kaljulaid today at Kadriorg met European Parliament President Antonio Tajani and european political groups’ representatives to discuss Estonia’s EU Council presidency preparations and priorities.
“I wish that Estonia’s EU Council Presidency reminded later than the time when the ice began to melt when the Europeans got their confidence back and look optimistically toward a common future,” the president said Kaljulaid.
The Head of State said that we live at a time when the European Union is put to the test, as exemplified by both the Euro and the refugee crisis. “I believe that the European Union must be based on shared values of these crises out stronger,” he said.
European Parliament President Antonio Tajani, wished success to Estonia’s presidency of the European Parliament and expressed his full support.
